Day 2

  • The virtue i showed today was resolution, "Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve." In this quote what Franklin means is that you should decide to do the right thing, then whatever the decision you made; you must make a plan so that you can follow your decision and not procrastinate and do something else instead of following your choice. I showed this virtue today because I chose to do the right thing, which was put everything in the past and worry about the future which is, progressing in life and accomplishing some of my major goals which will take time and it is applying for scholarships. My goal that I came up with so that I can achieve my purpose is to look at the scholarships and see their deadlines, then I must use my time wisely and if I have free time I need to start working on writing the essays or filing out the applications. I chose to do this because I know senior year students rarely have time to actually apply for scholarships and have time to apply to college; I am doing this so that I won't be rushing when that time comes in approximately one year and eight months. As a junior i have experience situations which hurt you and damage you, but in order to keep your head up you must forget those obstacle and look forward to the future positively. No matter how hard some situations get, i need to always finish my assignments in time because i know that my work will eventually pay off.

  •     Today i ignored the virtue of tranquility, "Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable." In this quote what Franklin means is that no matter the type of situation you might be in or others might be in you must always be calm and relaxed so that you can think clearly. I did not possess this virtue because there were different types of situations where i could not ignore them. These specific students were saying things that were hurting others and they were putting my name in it. I could not avoid hearing about it and I was really disappointed and angry because it is not right when others talk about you and they do not realize their words have an impact on how someone views that certain person.

Day 1

    •  Today i showed the virtue of silence, "Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversations."  To me this quote means, you should watch what you say because words have a major influence in others. I showed the virtue of silence by being quiet and not responding back to a teacher; even after what that teacher said was wrong I preferred to listen and just stay silent. Even though we might not think about it, what we say can have a major impact in those who those words are meant for. From my point of view, it hurts when others talk about you and when others do not believe you, but the only thing we can do is be silent and keep your head up.  No matter how bad the situation gets, it is better to stay quiet and listen because raising your voice or talking back will not make the situation any better.
    •  Today i ignored the virtue of order, "Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time." I did not possess this virtue because i was not focusing right. I was focused on one main conflict and not focused on making sure I completed my assignments for my four classes. No matter what it is, you should always put things aside and worry about completing your assignments on time instead of worrying about something that will eventually be solved. In order to progress in life we should always take things step by step in order to complete everything on time.

    Welcome!!!

Welcome to my personal blog in which I will give a little background information about Benjamin Franklin. I will also summarize the main points in his autobiography. Benjamin Franklin's most popular and enduring contributions to American Culture was, "Poor Richard's Almanack". I
will talk about his life, his accomplishments, why he is well known, and the thirteen virtues he acquired. I will also talk about how I personally acquire these thirteen virtues throughout my everyday life.
